Board Designer

Noguchi (Sato) Eishin

A Japanese shape designer, the roots of his eponymous brand, Eishin Surfboards, date back to 1994 in San Diego, California.

Founded in 2010, the brand is based in Japan and Kauai, Hawaii, and works with shape designers from all over the world to fulfill global custom orders.

Eishin studied under the renowned San Diego surfer Rich Pavel and is recognized as his only disciple in Japan. He pursues original designs and has earned the trust of surfers around the world with his shapes that combine a special sense of speed and high quality.
This trust is backed by the experience of hand-shaping over 2,000 pieces, a glass carrier, and the fin foils that we make ourselves.

Eishin has a professional career, having won the first noseride contest sponsored by the Japan Professional Surfing Association in 2007. Using his experience and the knowledge and techniques he inherited from his mentor Pavel, Eishin has studied important designs in surfing history and travels to original designers around the world to share valuable information and authentic designs.

Currently, together with test pilots Ryohei Taoka and Ken Sakakibara, we are pursuing the harmony with the waves that modern surfing demands. Making use of their unique personalities, we are sending out authentic designs and shapes to the world that will protect the lives of surfers and earn their trust.
